Fattoria Poggio Alloro
We went to an organic farm called Fattoria Poggio Alloro where we got to have lunch and a wine tasting of their various white and red wines. They also gave us a tour of their vinyard where they grow different kinds of grapes and olives (as well as all the vegetables that they serve at their lunch).
Cask where they age the Chianti
Olive trees - almost ready for harvest time (November). They make their own olive oil.
Grapes right off the vine. These will be harvested in a couple of weeks.
Close up of the large grapes
(we got to taste them and they taste just as good as they look!)
Pomegranate tree
My favorite of the wines - Chianti

San Gimignano
Some pictures from the Tuscan town of San Gimignano where we spent the rest of the afternoon...

The city gates
Most of the Italian cities had big city gates from the origin of the city.
Tons of vendors selling food, clothing, gelato. Cured meats are very popular.
Beautiful narrow streets and old brick buildings
