EBC Trek - Dingboche & Laboche

September 16 - 18

We hike to Dingboche on September 16th and spent two nights there to acclimitize to the elevation.  Dingboche is at 4410 meters (14,500 ft).  During our second day in Dingboche, we day hiked to the top of a nearby mountain, getting to 5050 meters (16,665 ft).

Day hike to nearby peak.  Here we are at 5050 meters / 16,665 ft.

Our buddy Eric had a barometer watch that showed the elevation (5053 meters)

The next day, we hiked on to Laboche, 4900 meters / 16,125 ft.

We passed the Memorial Site along the way to Laboche where all the men and women who died in their attempt to summit Everest (either on the way up or on the way down) have memorials.  It's actually really sad and emotional as you walk through, reading the plaques describing the feat they were trying to accomplish and their ages - most of them are around our age, late 20s / early 30s.

Gene and Radskumar take a break and enjoy the sunshine.
