Carnival, Dominica

Monday, February 11 - Tuesday, February 12

Gene and I just happened to be in Dominica during their Carnival.  Carnival is a 2-day holiday filled with parades, costumes, live  music, tons of street vendors, and lots of partying.  It's similar to Mardi Gras, their pre-lent time.  We were in Roseau, the capital of Dominica, during Carnival, so we got to see the biggest of the festivities.  While the actual holidays are Monday and Tuesday, they start partying on Sunday night around 2 am with live bands and very loud music.  We could hear the music and feel the base from where we were anchored, about a mile from downtown Roseau.

Here are some pictures of the costumes, the parade, and the activities going on in the streets of Roseau.
