January 4 - 5
For
our last night with our friends, we decided to go out to dinner at
the Spice Mill restaurant. We anchored in White House Bay after our
day of unsuccessful fishing, and snorkeled for a while before
showering and getting ready for dinner. The nearest dingy dock to
our anchorage was the Christophe Harbor marina dock that was under
development. We all jumped in the dingy, and headed over to the dock
which turned out to be a pretty rocky and wet ride! Luckily we had
our navigation light and Gene's headlamp because there was a boat
coming out of the marina entrance as we arrived. We landed on the
dock and were welcomed by two men that were waiting on the dock for
another boat. After introducing ourselves and talking to the guys,
we realized that one of the guys was a directing manager of the
Christophe Harbor marina who is managing the development of the new
mega-yacht marina. He was very kind but immediately warned us that
we'd have to be moving quickly because they have a “high profile”
guest coming in and the “security teams” can't have anyone else
in the area. He was referring to the owners of the 400-ft yacht
(easily one of the largest yachts in the world) that anchored a
quarter of a mile behind us in White House Bay that evening at
sunset. He worked with us to quickly get us a cab. We were all
extremely intrigued by who this “high profile” guest might be,
and we were eager to google the yacht anchored behind us to find out
more about its owners. We later discovered that the yacht, Serence,
was one of the top 5 biggest yachts in the world, and it was owned by
a Russian vodka company owner. We thought it might belong to the
Google owner or possibly the owner of Limited Inc Brands (Victoria's
Secret, Express, The Limited, etc) who were both rumored to be on
yachts around St. Kitts.
The
next day, we headed back to the marina at Port Zante to drop off
Criss, Amber, and Emma. We had such a great time with them and were
so happy that they came to visit! It was sad to say goodbye. We
hope that after this trip Criss catches tons of huge fish that are
not barracuda, Amber becomes an expert paddle-boarder on a lake
somewhere, and Emma remembers how much she loves dingy rides, jumping
on the nets, and the group clap!
We
got to experience some “Bests Of The Trip” so far with the
Vanderburgs during their visit:
- Best Sunset
- Best Full Moon
- Best Fireworks Display
- Biggest Mega-Yacht Sighting
